Fate Mapping

Fate mapping was developed by Walter Vogt as a means by which to trace the development of specific regions of the early embryo. To do this, Vogt used agar chips impregnated with vital dyes


Two___Three___Four___One

When the colored dots are applied to the region around the dorsal blastopore lip, they can be used to chart the changes in position of cells in this region, as well as to provide information about what this tissue becomes.
