Gastrulation - Secondary Mesenchyme Exert Tension

Secondary mesenchyme cells clearly exert tension where they attach, pulling out what T. Gustafson called "cones of attachment" . When a filopodium detaches, such cones rapidly snap back, indicating that the filopodia were exerting tension where they were attached.
