Human karyotypes for teaching: (47, XY + 10) These karyotypes are from an abnormal male. There is a full set of 23 homologous pairs, plus an extra copy of chromosome 10. Individuals with this trisomy do not survive fetal development; thus these cells normally are derived from spontaneous abortions. These karyotypes are from the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene. They are intended for use in teaching to help students study human chromosomes.
